The main parts of speech are: 1. Nouns (N):  Words that refer to people, places, things, and ideas. * Examples: dog, city, happiness 2. Verbs (V):  Words that express actions, events, or states of being. * Examples: run, jump, think 3. Adjectives (Adj):  Words that modify or describe nouns or pronouns. * Examples: happy, big, blue 4.
